The Beta is designed by Boreal to cater particularly to indoor-wall climbers, using a novel (for climbing shoes) stretch-knit top that feels nice against the skin, breathes well and generally helps reduce the potential for smell. It has a fairly low-volume heel, and enough tension and shape to encourage footwork development, but remains comfortable enough to wear for training mileage or multi-pitch routes. The EVA cushioning in the heel also adds a little luxury, giving a little extra protection when dropping off a problem or walking between routes.Â
